This is the umpteenth gun that I have bought from Bud's. As usual, the service was impeccable. The pistol arrived within a week of ordering. It came in a nice plastic box with a couple cleaning rods and a bottle of oil. Upon opening the box, I was kind of surprised to see such a fine pistol for the price. The forged slide and frame are very nicely machined. The beavertail grip safety was well fitted. The barrel looks like it has been chromed. The bushing fit is good and the the barrel locks up tight. The grips that I have heard some complaints about are a little larger than some other 1911's, but I have big hands, so I like them. As SOP, I broke down the gun with my cleaning supplies, stones and sandpaper to clean up the tool marks and polish out the parts that make the 1911 go bang every time that you pull the trigger , but to my surprise, I didn't need to do anything to it. This was hard to believe, considering some of thousand dollar guns that I have had to work on before they would function correctly. I took it to the range and fired about a hundred 230 grain lead reloads through it without as much as a stutter. Accuracy was very good, not quite as good as a target 1911, but much better than most service models. The rear sight is just a tad to high, but a little file and fire took care of that, I prefer non adjustable sighted pistols be this way. It is much easier to take a little of, than it is to put a little on. The trigger pull was a little heavy, but crisp with very little take up. I can live with that better than a squirt gun trigger on some plastic wondernine. OOPs, I just dated myself. All in all, I have to put a big smiley face on this gun. It is an eight hundred dollar gun for half the cost.
