I just picked up my Chinese Type 53 2/13/2013. I've been watching these sell out on Bud's for awhile, but was uncertain about buying one for myself considering some of the reviews. However I finally decided to purchase one and expected the worst when I went to pick it up. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. There was some finish wear on the metal parts but no rust, the bolt is very smooth, the bore looks to be in good shape. The stock was not too bad, most of the finish is gone, but the actual wood is in good shape. There is some dents and scratches but overall it looks good considering age and what this rifle may have been through. My plan was to buy one of these and put it in another stock, but honestly I think I'll clean it up a little and leave it as is. So anyone thinking about one of these, I would say take a chance and see what you get. It worked out good for me. As far as Bud's, i've lost track of the number of guns i have purchased and in each case Bud's service has exceptional.
