TISAS Classic 1911-A1 45ACP 5" GI BLACK
[TZM11BL]
$399.00
by David S Date Added: Saturday 09 March, 2013
Great gun for the money as everyone else has said. This is my first 1911, so I didn't know what to expect. The fella at the gun shop/FFL kinda snickered when I told him the brand name and that it was made in Turkey, but he looked it over & was really impressed. He was surprised when I told him it was $399.

Took her home, tore her down & got rid of the excess oil. I shot a couple hundred rounds of Federal 230g JHPs through it with no issues. It shoots great! I'm very accurate with it. I was surprised at what I could hit my first time out. It definitely points more naturally than my Glocks and old XD. The GI sights leave a little to be desired, but I have Trijicons on all my Glocks. Accurate, but just took me longer to acquire my sight picture.

Only nitpicks is the grips...kinda ugly, don't really match shade wise. The one has a ding in the wood where the Turkish guy got a little crazy with the screwdriver. Probably too much Turkish coffee that shift! I'm not really a fan of the smooth grips. Of course grips are easy to fix on a 1911, so I ordered some nice, fully checkered cocobolo ones from Esmeralda.

I haven't shot other 1911s to compare it with, but I am VERY happy with this purchase. I'm tempted to buy a couple more & just put them in the safe!
