Great gun. Besides that, the gun was perfect out of the box. Went to Bass Pro indoor range and put 200 rounds down it. Not a single hiccup. Sexy looking and shooting gun. I will say mine shot a tad bit low. I'm sure a bit of adjustment to the sites will fix it. I was also using 230gr ball Remington bulk brown box ammo. Only reason I'm not giving this gun 5 stars is as follows. Only 1 magazine. I hate when I don't get 2 magazines with a gun. The front site is just a black post and very tall. Will be changing that front site if not the back one as well. The slide is a mirror hard chrome finish but only on the side and back of the slide. The grip frame and top of the slide is a matte satin finish steel grey. Wished the whole thing was either the mirror chrome finish or all was the matte satin finish. Also, the wood grips, while real, look fake. They also look a bit mismatched aesthetically speaking. If they had been stained black they would look better or not so shiny. Last is the trigger has a tiny amount of play in the ready state. Nothing bad for HD or range fun shooting. But if you want to go into competition you'll have to work on the trigger a bit, which would need to be done with the 3.5lb trigger pull. The heavier than competition trigger pull out the box is for legal reasons anyhow. Really only minor "dings" but it can't be a perfect score without it.
Still, I have some expensive 1911's that go for $1K or more and this gun hangs with them in my experience. You aren't going to find a better 1911 for the money unless you are looking to get some pre-tricked out customized competition gun. For the money, I would buy this gen 2 version of the Girsan and trick it out the same way for much cheaper. I also loved the look on some people's faces when I mentioned the gun was a Girsan and not a Kimber, STI, or Wilson as they originally thought when they saw it in action first without knowing what it was. Then when I said it was only $500, I was picking up many jaws off the floor.
