RUSSIAN HEX Mosin Nagant M91/30 7.62X54R
by Wade S Date Added: Monday 13 May, 2013
It is what it is, and I like it. Buying one of these is like a pig in a poke, but no matter what you take out of the box, it has history and character. All in all, I am satisfied with my purchase. Mine turned out to be an Ex-Dragoon, with a 1928 Izhevsk barrel stamp, on an even older "hex" receiver bearing a Czarist Russian crest. The numbers on the bolt, buttplate, and barrel all match, despite being apparently overhauled at the Izhevsk arsenal. One of the barrel bands has a Tula star, and the other has an Izhevsk bow and arrow on it. I'm probably wrong about some of this, but this is what I put together from internet resources over the weekend. Interesting stuff. I should have all of the congealed Tibetan yak fat soaked and brushed off by this evening to put some lead through it at the range later this week. IT's old. I think I can expect some crusty spots, but I haven't found anything to disappoint. I'm a happy daddy!
