I had previously bought a CPO Sig P226 in 40 cal. and it was flawless, shot great right out of the box and never had any problems. THEN I bought the Sig P226 9mm with E2 grips. The first time I took it out to shoot, the slide locked solid after 2 shots. I messed with it and finally got the slide to move, locked the slide back and pushed the release down and took the slide off. I examined the guide rod and recoil spring and could not see any obvious problem. I put it back together and fired 4 shots with no problems. Then several months later, I finally get a new place to shoot, took it out and BAM, the 3rd shot locked the slide and had to do a lot of banging on the guide rod that was still sticking out the front end until the slide loosened up a little. I again took the slide off and could not see the problem. I took the spring out of my 40, put it in the 9mm and went to the range. It fired flawlessly, except the slide did not lock open after the last shot. I called Sig and they wanted me to send it in for $60 to have them check it out. Next, I took the 9mm orange tipped recoil spring and compared it to the green tipped 40 spring and the 9mm spring was 3/4" shorter. I stretched the 9mm spring and it has been shooting fine ever since. I again called sig and they just said they would sell me a set of recoil springs. Never mind the fact that they put a defective one in to start with. Then on the issue of the mag not locking the slide open, I had 2 mags and took them both apart. The one that came with the gun was 2 INCHES SHORTER then the other one. Both mags were Sig mags....15 shot. I know what they did....they put a 10 round mag spring in a 15 round magazine. Again....they denied that this could happen. I used to think that SIG was a quality firearm. I ordered 2 Mec-Gar magazines for less than the cost of 1 magazine from sig, they both are 18 round to top it off and have had no problems with the Mec-Gar magazines. Another note is that the pistol shot off of sandbags at 15 yards with a rock solid rest, shot consistently LEFT 2-3 inches and low. I used my MGW sight tool to correct it, but GEE, what do they do, just slide the rear sight in and eyeball it??? VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN SIG QUALITY OR LACK THEREOF!!!!! THIS IS NOT A BUD'S GUNS PROBLEM, THEY ARE GREAT......THIS IS A SIG PROBLEM
