Remington 700 SPS Tactical 308win
[84207]
$600.00

I gave this gun 5 starts because it's a Rem 700 and I found it to shoot under .5 moa with 168gr matckings.

HOWEVER. I had a heck of a time resolving the FTF issue. I could have returned it, but didn't want to wait weeks for the turnaround. I resolved the issue by replacing the magazine spring and strengthening the crimps under the follower that hold the spring in place. I then pushed the spring all the way rearward on the follower. this resolved all FTF issues.... but this took hours and bloodied knuckles to figure out. Also... I think the follower is crap and should be replaced with a CNC'd follower.

Luckily I had pre-ordered a HS Medalist stock for the Remy... because the Hogue overmolded stock is also crap. Fine for stalking, but terrible for realizing the full, remarkable accuracy of the action and barrel. Also, unless you keep your gun in a hermetically sealed vault, the rubberized stock with collect a fair amount of dust and debris, particularly from your hands. The light stock won't properly balance the heavy barrel either, and as you probably already know... the stock DOES touch the barrel when rested.

To sum up... BUY THIS GUN. And buy one of the MANY good stocks to drop the action and barrel into. You will have a truly fine weapon. BUT.... be prepared to hand the gun right back to Remington to fix the FTF. This is an EASY way to reach .5 MOA. Practice some patience and be well rewarded.
