Smith & Wesson 10 + 1 Round 40 S&W w/Mag Safety Mass Compliant

My opinion of my M&P 40c started out fairly low. The outside fit and finish was good out of the box, but the barrel lands looked rather rough and unfinished and the trigger pull was a bit gritty. My initial trip to the range with this weapon was equally lackluster. It wold shoot something like five inch groups at seven yards! For comparison I was shooting just over an inch groups with my full size HK USP on the same trip.
Ive just returned from my fourth trip the the range with the M&P 40c which round count is now right at 200 and I am much more impressed. Shooting braced, this little gun would put 10 rounds in a 3 inch group at 25 yards, and that is plenty good a gun with a 3.5 inch baral in my book. The bore of the barrel has smothed out significantly and the lands now have a near mirror surface and the trigger feels much crisper. I suspect further brake in may further improve acuracty.
I still find the M&P a challenging gun to shoot well unsupported. My next trip out with in I will bring the various supplied palm swells and see if any one of them proves my shooting.
As for reliability, the M&P has been flawless with no stoppages of any kind in the first 200 rounds (using generic ammo at that). In short, if you are willing to spend the time to brake then thing in I think the M&P 40c is an excellent gun for the price.
