My shotgun arrived unharmed and unmarked, though at first I was worried due to the shape the box was in at my FFL. However, inside the thrashed box was another box in perfect condition.
The shotgun works flawlessly and is nice and rugged. The 590sp has a polymer trigger guard and safety in comparison to the 590a1. Glocks are made from polymer and they can take a beating, I don't see why these parts should be any different. It saves a few bucks and cuts down on the weight (even though slightly, ounces are ounces). The barrel is also thinner than a 590a1 but it looks to be the same as a Rem 870 and those will last far longer than what I will probably use this shotgun for. The heat shield gives it a nice mean look and is secure, the edges aren't sharp on mine but if I was truly in a stressful situation and pumping this firearm I could see myself cutting my hand in the groove. Although in that situation I think I could stomach a little cut in favor for getting my shotgun to work. If you don't like it, take it off. The length of pull on this shotgun is significantly long. I have fairly long arms and I can already tell if I install a sling mount between the stock and receiver I will have to trip down the stock or replace it with a youth (don't like the idea of trial and error with stock pads to find the right length). There is already a sling mount at the base of the stock if you don't mind it in that location. The top of the receiver is already tapped for mounting an optic if that's your thing. I can pick up the bead sight just fine but as I get older and my eyesight starts going it's nice to have options. Probably my favorite feature of this shotgun is the loading ramp, or rather the lack there of. I pinch the crap out of myself on 870's, in this 590sp It's smooth loading with no hangups.
