First the positive: This gun looks absolutely bad-ass. A little heavy, but very comfortable, and the weight helps absorb some of that .40 cal kick. Really sweet trigger, smooth as butter even in DA. Shoots anything you feed it with no jams, right out of box. And priced right, too--after getting the free NRA membership from Taurus (worth $35), the net cost to me was just over $300. Now the negative: After the first couple hundred rounds, it developed an issue where the slide would occasionally lock open with rounds still in the mag--not so cool in a self-defense situation (saw another review under the stainless model from a buyer who had the same problem). Also, out of box, it was consistently shooting low. I initially thought it was my own inexperience as a new shooter, but could not correct the problem after shooting 400-500 rounds. Sent it back to Taurus because of this and the slide lock issue. They confirmed the front sight was high and replaced it, fixed the slide stop, and sent it back in a couple weeks. Excellent service except for one detail--Taurus would not pay for shipping as they had in the past. I was told this was a "courtesy" they used to provide but no longer do, and therefore had to foot the bill for shipping myself. If it were not for this, I would have given Taurus an A . And this is the main reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5--because Taurus does not stand behind their product 100% like they used to.
