Taurus 15 + 1 Round 40 Smith & Wesson w/Stainless Finish/4"
by Douglas L Date Added: Wednesday 12 September, 2012
Ordered the PT 840 from Buds and as always Buds was A#1 great to deal with. This is my second Taurus firearm and I am glad they have the lifetime warranty because I needed to use it again. The firearm has a good feel in your hand but I still put a Houge grip sleeve on it that is just me I put that sleeve on all my pistols, makes them fit even better. It has a real nice trigger on it. Ok now for the problems at the range I had a 12 inch target set at about 18 yards away. First shot, no hole in target. Second shot, no hole in target. Moved target closer to 12 yards. Third shot grazed the bottom of the 12 inch target. Now this is with me aiming at the center bulls eye. I had some larger targets with me so I put up a new 24 inch one about 15 yards away. Aim at center bulls eye, shot several more rounds they were anywhere from 9 to 12 inches low and 5 inches either side of center holly disappointment. I tried 4 different brands of ammo same results. Ok maybe some of you are thinking this guy is a bad shot. Well I pulled out my 9mm and put 12 rounds dead center. I did this also to make sure it was not just me. So back home and do some checking and measuring. I take the barrel out and find that the breach is 16 thousands of an inch bigger in diameter than the case of a loaded round and I think Is this normal? I went and checked my 9mm that only had 5 thousands difference, my 45 about 6 thousands and another 9mm about 4 thou. Called TAURUS explained everything they said send it in we will be glad to fix it. So off went my new gun back to Taurus. I didn't even have it a week. 4 weeks later I get it back with a new barrel. I know because I marked the other one. At the range it shoots fairly accurate not as good as my M&P 9 but acceptable. I like the firearm now. I don%uFFFD%uFFFDt mind TAURUS I figure you might get a good one and even if you get a bad one with their lifetime repair policy you are still going to get a good firearm if you don%uFFFD%uFFFDt mind waiting. Oh the repair cost me nothing but time.
