I really want to like the Bulldog, there really isn't anything in current production that offers a larger caliber in such a light, compact gun. That said, I have had multiple issues with parts breakage. I have not used anything other than pretty tame .44 Special factory ammo. Cannot recommend, as much as I would like to.

Very disappointed in this Charter Arms Bulldog unreliable only revolver i ever owned that failed to fire on ever other round but feels good in the hand. Charter Arms has got bad quality control. This gun is no good for self defense. Thanks Dennis

Wow! A really nice buy for the price. I often carry a snub nose revolver. The .44 special caliber helps me to believe that whether it may be home defense or EDC this little inexpensive but rugged partner can handle the job reliably. Thanks Buds for the quick reliable service.

Practical and good functioning carry gun. Can fit in a pocket on many pants. With 44 Special I carry semi wadcutter and don't worry about expansion. Shoots well for it's purpose. Recoil not difficult to handle with its grip.

After several hundred rounds and months of carry, I can assure you this lovin’ .44 is tough and dependable. Only experienced one hard primer on a PMC factory load otherwise it goes bang every time and accurately to boot. Scary accurate with 200grain loads which I suggest over lighter loads as they tend to buck the gun too much to allow for accurate follow up shots. The lighter frame of this bulldog makes for good carry though but will wear on your hand past 50 rounds. Great guns and lots of cowboy fun

my initial impression of the new charter arms bulldog 44spec.[74421] is very good. the weapon appears to be well made and durable, there are some edges that needed smoothing, especially the front sight[ not a problem for filing however]. it is very light even loaded, a pleasure to carry concealed.I've carried over 25 yrs.im really pleased with the speed of draw and shoot response that this revolver offers, it feels safer and faster than autos to me.it's accuracy at point of aim was very good thru the 20 or so rounds i ran through it.I would recommend it for its intended purpose.

I checked online reviews and you tube about this revolver. It's lightweight and fast to draw surprisingly very accurate. Charter Arms has great rifling on their barrels. I'm a .357magnum snubnose carrier . I've now replaced my old sidekick with this great shooting no nonsense larger caliper double action only revolver. I've changed out the rubber grips to the smaller and slim stock wood grip for better concealment. Thanks to Buds Gun Shop for the competitive price and great customer service. I'm very happy with this purchase. My sweet .44

The tag that came with the gun clearly states " P rated". This gun is better suited to my task than The hammered S&W 396NG and Mountain Lite that it replaced. The gun weighs 19 ounces to clear up any confusion there, 22 ounces loaded. I am real pleased with most of its fit and finish, trigger pull, lock up, and accuracy as compared to the S&W's (believe it or not). POA is pretty close betwixed different loads at 7 yards, very accurate. The gun does have some sharp edges that can be easily smoothed with a diamond stone. I avoided this thing for years and I wished I'd got one sooner. In think a nitride version of this pistol would be a hell of a deal. The muzzle rise with stout loads just ain't there so I personally think the Boomer would be a step behind this model. I received the gun quickly from Buds. I recommend this gun, it works! Took my Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Special to our Shelby NC new largest in the state gun range. Was a little taken about the size of the new Bulldogs. Was expecting a larger gun.And the new nitride finish was very different for me.But when I learned it makes the gun stronger and pretty well rust proof was feeling a lot better about it.And after the BOOM! of the Bulldog 44 matched the BOOM! of my new Patroit 308 knew I had a very real Bulldog 44.For there is only one! Also was very surprised my new Bulldog 44 fit into my S@W 380 bodyguard belly wrap holster. And the 2 new loaded 44 speed loaders fit into the 2 clip holders.People if this gun was any lighter it would float away.Guess what my new conceal carry is?

This is definitely a quality firearm for the price! On a personal note, I'd like to express my gratitude to Shane Geary at Academy Arms. LLC for always being personable and knowledgeable. If you live in the Lower Fairfield County area of Connecticut, or anywhere in the state for that matter, I would personally recommend going to Shane if you need a Transfer agent, pistol permit certification, or advice on a specific firearm. Shane is top notch! 5 stars*****!

Let me just start this off by saying i was most definitely surprised at this little puppies ability to protect it's owner from the bite to the bark and you would never have seen it coming from such a small frame but it's not overly small well at least not for me as i feel i have medium sized hands but just to be fair before i start the compliments i just want to say that i also purchased some Crimson Trace grips for this bad boy and maybe that is what made me have such a fantastic time shooting this pup.. it was very accurate once you learn her and i was most definitely hitting my target over and over again at a reasonable distance which this is the type of firearm in my opinion that was created especially for that, don't even get me started about the ROAR this thing puts out.. i believe i made the whole firing line take one step back and even got a few winks.. haha, great gun for the price and quality workmanship plus great service from Buds and i honestly could not be happier with my new carry conceal.

I’ve had this revolver for close to a year now and I've put at least 300 rounds of Federal, Winchester and Buffalo Bore through it. It's been 100% reliable at the range with no problems with shooting or extracting. I squeeze the trigger, it goes bang. And whatever brand of ammo, when I push the extractor rod, the brass drops out and onto the ground. Would I go to a USPSA match with it? No, but the accuracy is more than acceptable for putting a big hunk of lead into a torso across the room. Hitting center mass on a man-sized silohuette at 15 yards is no problem with this gun. At closer range, those .44 holes obliterate the center of whatever target you want to shoot at. It's a big chunk of lead scooting along at about 850 fps. Ouch! If you haven't guessed by now, I really like this gun and enjoy shooting it. I carry it loaded with Federal 200 gr lead semi-wadcutters with 5 more on a Bianchi speed strip in the left pocket of my jeans or jacket.

I LOVE my Charter Arms 44 Special pistol!! It is just perfect for concealed carry as far as the size goes. I have one of those special concealed weapons purses and it goes along with me everywhere I go, and NO ONE knows I am carrying it. I got the .44 caliber to not only protect myself from human harm, if need be, but to protect myself from bigger animals like bears, wolves, and the occasional angry moose...After I received my pistol I did send off for the regular hammer though as I do like that much better, just a matter of preference I guess.

I bought this Bulldog to replace the one stolen out of my truck last year. Great gun at a great price. At this price, it doesnt hurt as much if some low-life "re-allocates" it. Thanks Buds! Another easy, and flawless transaction.

I purchased this gun as my primary carry. It fits great in my front pocket holster and is not bad IWB either. The fit/finish is a 4 out of 5. Good but not excellent. Trigger pull is firm, not bad at all. It is accurate enough, after all ,it is not a target pistol. I shot the 200 grain hollow point Blazer rounds better than the 240 grain round nose cowboy loads. Recoil is much lighter than I anticipated. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, and very confident using it as my every day carry.

The gun arrived with a small amount of surface rust in various locations, I guess it might be a lower quality stainless. It is also rough around the edges, literally. But lets face it, it's not a S&W and it's only $348. It locks up tight and is very sturdy. I f I were to rate the finish it would be a 3 but the overall weapon I am impressed with. Its light weight and easy to conceal. Not bad as far as the kick either. I am pleased enough to also buy the .357 as well. Thanks Buds.

Received my .44 special Bulldog real fast and just love this beauty, only shot 5 rounds through it, but it perfomed very good.Easy to carry in my Maxpedition pack and it gives me a good safe feeling, the ballistics for the .44 spec. are just the ticket .The price from Bud´s was about $100.00 cheaper than the local guns stores.Very happy with the service from Bud´s and will order again.Buy this Revolver and be assured you have an excellent safe defence weapon

Nice weapon it fires fine light weight this is a keeper. I had heard bad things about charter arms so I was kind of worried about getting this but I'm happy to say no problems I have not fired it a lot but I did fire it and had no problems at all.

I was unable to find a Bulldog .44 with bobbed hammer anywhere in the area, so finally ordered it from Buds. I am very pleased with every aspect of the purchase. My Bulldog weighs 19.3 oz unloaded which makes it a fine carry gun that drills very large holes! The accuracy surprised me as I have never expected much from a DAO short barrel gun but the Bulldog sure performs. It handles well but doesnt have the precision feel of a Smith, but then it costs a lot less. This is about the best combination I have found yet for a small carry gun with massive stopping power. Highly recommended!

This gun carries well, and is fairly accurate. Self defense ammo is a bit steep for it, and you will most likely have to order it online or through a catalog. It is about the same size as a Colt "D" Frame or a Ruger SP101....and at 20oz is a gem to carry IWB. I was shooting 3" groups at 21 ft, and recoil with the Blazer 200 Gr. HP's was stout, but manageable. I would recommend this gun to someone who doesn't mind spending a little extra for ammo, but wants a reliable, easy to carry gun that affords very good stopping power.
