Another solid firearm from Ruger. I'm really happy to have a single action 45acp revolver now, not sure if I'll ever use the 45 colt cylinder but glad I have it in case I want to put some hot bear loads in it. Recoil was a little more than I expected. I had heard that 45acp from a revolver is less than from a 1911 - not true. It's the same; good thing I'm used to a 1911. The black plastic grips offer a good hold on the gun, though they are a little narrower than the brown wooden grips Ruger puts on the stainless steel blackhawks. I have medium size hands and feel that the provided grips could be a little thicker for more comfortable shooting, but it is in no way a problem.
One good thing about 45acp: all brass ejects clear from the cylinder without having to point the gun up and really jam that ejector rod back, like I sometimes have to do with 357mag in my other blackhawk.
