First, let me state that it was really a pleasing experience in dealing with Bud's. I traded in a firearm toward the purchase of this fine 1911. Bud's gave me what I wanted and expected. I knew the value of my trade-in-firearm and simply refused to be undercut. My local gun dealers are typical, in that they have zero sense of customer service and otherwise treat their customers with a slight disdain. I attempted to sell my firearm at one shop and was offered half of what I knew to be fair. I then asked if they could order a this particular Sig 1911 and was quoted a price $350 above Bud's price. All the while I was spoken to as if I was some sort of newbie to firearms, which is not the case. It felt pleasant to tell the shop owner that he wasn't even trying to be fair and that he lost a customer for life. Too bad. No reason to transact with dealers and their superiority complexes, we have Buds.

As for the pistol. I purchased the version with fixed Novak night sights. I won't speak in nonsense terms here ("Oh, fit and finish are great"...."this is the greatest gun ever...IMO"), but will give you the straight skinny on this sucker. It is solid as a rock. It is good looking. My styling came without the "GSR" etched across the slide, but nicely states "Sig Sauer 1911" in small etching. The stainless is not polished, but is evenly matte. It is a somewhat heavy piece, but not bulky. I have smallish hands, and it fits perfectly in my clenched grip. It's a basic 1911, with some extra safety features that only a bunch of Swiss/Germans would think of putting in a 1911. The guide rod is short, shorter than you'd find on a Springfield GI. That's fine with me, as longer guide rods do nothing to improve accuracy or reliability. I cleaned it before heading to the range and noticed a pasty, gritty substance at the rail of the slide and frame. "What the %#$@ is that!?", I exclaimed. Then I figured it out.....Sig lapped the slide to the frame. Who does that nowadays? Anyone?

I put 200 rounds through this pistol without a single problem. Strangley, the recoil seems light. Maybe a function of the gun's weight? It is accurate with the right ammo. I shot some crappy UMC target ammo that shot a inch left of the bullseye. Federal target ammo (a much better value), shot consistently with 1.5-2 inch groups. Federal Hydra Shok HP at 15 feet was ridiculously accurate. Three of my shots went through the same center bulleye hole. Three. Center. Oh, I should mention, I'm an exceptional shot. All ammo was 230 grain. Conclusion: accurate out of the box. I'd shoot this mother in competition as is...and win.

Best 1911 on the market....for the money or otherwise. I've shot a few pitsols in my time. I'm totally impressed. The sights are very nice. What a deal. Now go kiss your wife.
