New Ruger LCP .380
[3701]
$300.00
by Owen O Date Added: Monday 13 February, 2012
Good value for the money. The gun itself shoots 3 inches left at 15 feet. Had a few problems getting the gun to return to battery fully when first loading a clip, then racking the slide back and slingshotting it into battery. The slide would go almost into full battery, but 1/8 of an inch too short, preventing the gun from firing. A tap on the back of the slide fixed the problem. This happened when slingshotting the slide on a new clip throughout the 100 round test fire. If the slide was held back with the slide stop button, then release forward with the slide stop button on a new mag, this problem did not occur. The slide does not lock open when the magazine is emptied, so one must manually lock the slide open and load a new mag to prevent the failure to go into battery problem.

Fit and finish of the gun is pretty good. Field stripping is fairly easy, requires a screwdriver to pry out the take-down pin, and everything comes apart easily. Goes back together even easier.

The sights are small and incorporated into the slide. If you have bad vision, I would not recommend the gun as the sights may be hard to see. The front sight sets less than 1/8 inch above the slide. The gun is natural to point after some practice though.

I have medium sized hands, had to use the small magazine grip extension (1 included) to get a good middle and ring finger grip on the gun. Also bought a 10 rd mag for the gun. With the 10 rd mag, the gun becomes much easier to get a good handhold on and more enjoyable (less reloading!) at the range.

Overall, I would give this gun a 4/5. Very easy to conceal and a good gun to get your old lady for protection!
