New Ruger LCP .380
[3701]
$315.00
by Stephen S Date Added: Monday 20 February, 2012
Greetings everyone. Picked up Elsie one week ago, and was finally able to take her on a date to the range yesterday. Wow, what a gun! Elsie pushed 200 rounds down range with not one single malfunction whatsoever! And I am not talking about premium ammo either. 170 rounds were the Tula FMJ $14 Wallyworld special. The other 30 rounds were Federal HydraShok JHPs.

I was quite surprised at how accurate the gun was. I did most of my shooting at 10 yds, and had no trouble whatsoever hitting quality chest and head shots on the sillouette target I was using. I did paint part of the front sight orange with a paint pen from the arts and crafts section before heading to the range, which really seemed to help with my sight alignment and sight picture.

I was surprised in that the recoil was not nearly as bad as I anticipated. I fully expected that I would not be able to shoot all of the rounds I brought with me, but while there was noticeable recoil, shooting the gun, even after 200 rounds, was not painful. I even shot three clips each just using my strong hand AND my weak hand. Even shooting with just my left hand, with less than appropriate form (recoil was definitely moving my hand after the shot release ), the gun did not malfunction.

In my search for that perfect pocket pistol, I read and researched many of the other 380 and ultracompact 9mm pocket guns. The one thing that really bothered me was how susceptible some were to "limp wristing". My biggest concern was, in the heat of a life threatening confrontation, am I really going to have both hands free, as well as adequate time, to put a death grip on the pistol?

If you have been considering picking up an LCP, but have been sitting on the fence, go ahead and order one...you won't be dissapointed!

Buds was great by the way. Kept me informed of the order's status by email and shipped within a reasonable amount of time.
