I waited for this 500 6.5" for a long time on my wish list here at Bud's. When it came in I just happened to be online here when it appeared in stock. Grabbed the phone and I got thru on the first call, which was unusual as the volume of calls they have. Brad answered and using a credit card got it secured as it was the only one that came in and Brad said who knows when another one of the 500 series would appear. After it was paid for it went to shipping and I had it in two days at my FFL. What a fine gun made by Smith & Wesson, balanced and built like a tank. The firepower of it is massive, it has manageable recoil with 350 grain JHP ammo, but what a blast. When you get used to it after a few rounds it groups well at 50 yards. Be sure and bring something so you can have an intermission from it, as after 20 rounds your wrist and arm are ready for a break. This is where my .22 cal model 617's come in so I can have a break from its extreme power. The machining on the gun is superb, the fit and finish is excellent, the ammo is a bit pricey, but it sure is a beauty. And as for Bud's, I got the usual extremely fantastic service that I have had with everything I have bought from them, from my first purchase until this new 500, which was my 10th purchase. Price and customer service is tops, one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. I bought my last four or five guns dealing with Brad, and he is always ready and willing to answer any questions you might have and a really nice knowledgeable person to talk to, never in a hurry to rush you off the line to get to the next call. What a team, Smith & Wesson quality, and Bud's great customer service. The 500 is a masterpiece, an extremely potent and powerful massive handgun, if you have been considering ever getting one, do it. You will not be sorry you did, but be aware if you think the .44 magnum is pretty powerful handgun which it is, this makes the .44 seem small in comparison. If you can find one as they are few and far between, get one and you will enjoy shooting the largest caliber production handgun in the USA. I am looking to add a 4" to my collection so I will end up with both a 6.5" and a 4" .500. These will go well with my .460V 5" and my .460XVR 8 3/8" Smith & Wesson. As you can see Bud's has great service, as I keep coming back for more. I have a S&W 29-10 Blued Classic .44 on layaway right now as this is being written. This is another great service offered by Bud's, if you can't pay for things all at one time use the Layaway. Hope this review helps anyone stalled about making a purchase, go for it. Bud's and Smith & Wesson will make you glad you did!
