I just received this Marlin XL7 in 30.06. I will grade the fit, finish, and feel in this review as I have not taken it to the range yet. I just picked it up about an hour ago.
The gun looks really nice. The finish is as good as on much more expensive guns. It looks better than my Rem. 700 synthetic.
the feel of this gun is really nice. It is really balanced very well. The recoil pad is awesome. The fluted bolt is really smooth and locks down very tight.
I am not sure how I will like the blind floorplate but I knew about that before I bought the rifle.
The scope is a 3/9/40 Bushnell Banner. I will probably fit this gun with a better piece of glass, but the Bushnell looks serviceable for now.
The price is awesome. $325.00 delivered and my FFL Dealer only charges $25.00. This gun looks and feels like a $700.00 value.
I can't wait until I can take it to the range and sight this baby in -- hopefully in the next couple of weeks. When I do I will come back and share my groupings with you.
