Smith and Wesson still sets the standard, and the .41 magnum is a sadly underrated and underutilized cartridge. The S&W bluing is so dep you can see your ancestors. Buds Customer Service is 100% as always. Great communication, speedy shipping and carefully packaged. Buds is always my first resort.

Awesome revolver. Shoots great with high powered 41M rounds as well as reduced power Cowboy(HSM) at 975ft/s. S&W always makes fine firearms. I just had to add a Henry in 41 Magnum...just cuz

Absolutely Beautiful. The grain in the grips is phenomenal. The finish of the metal is dark and flawless. This is my 1st .41 mag. and I regret not having one before. The ballistics of the 41 mag is awesome. The action and trigger pull is better than most of my other revolvers except maybe my 586. Puts out a wallop for recoil but the weight of the gun keeps it very manageable for quick follow up shots if needed. Overall a beautiful gun and a blast to shoot.

Great service from Buds! However S&W needs to work on their quality control with regard to the finishing. My Model 57 shoots great, good accuracy etc. The bluing wasn’t the quality of previous models I owned, and in some spots on the front of a cylinder I could still see the white where the finish did not take. just not the deep rich bluing that I have seen in the past from Smith and Wesson.

The S&W Model 57 is one of my favorite hand guns. and the 41 is a great caliber. the workmanship and finish is well done.

Absolutely beautiful S&W .41 mag! I still have not fired it as I wanted to have it for my collection but one day will. I hope to purchase another when in stock. Great buy.

I recently purchased a S&W Model 57 .41 magnum with six inch barrel. I have wanted this model for many years and was pleasantly surprised when I took possession of my new firearm. The wood stocks appeared to be a very fine cut of wood and the blueing was perfect. I have had the chance to put about 50 rounds through, full power and lighter loads, and everything worked flawlessly. This is an accurate gun that is fun to shoot. I am very happy with this product. Nice big frame S&W wheel gun with deep blue finish and nice walnut grips, but I have to say I prefer the older S&W grips. However, after extensive range session, and a very pleasant conversion with Smith & Wesson Customer Service, I sent the revolver back to Smith & Wesson for their review of a couple of issues. The gun prints 5-6 inches high, at 10 and 25 yards, regardless of ammo type. Nice group from a bagged rest, just prints high using a 6 o'clock hold. S&W kindly offered to send me a replacement rear sight assembly, with shorter blades, but I explained that while Smith had the gun, please look at a small gap between barrel shroud and front on the frame, as well as the finish of the rifling at the muzzle crown (cosmetic issues, but the M57 is not an inexpensive revolver). Waiting on S&W to return the revolver, ETA is 3-weeks. Have been shooting S&W revolvers since the mid-70's. No slam on Smith's current quality or manufacturing processes. Smith has the best Customer Service, hands down. But like any mass produced "widget" stuff happens sometimes, i.e., a recall on my truck which is only a year old...

I have read a lot about the 41 magnum and its inception into the firearm industry. When S&W reintroduced it in there classic series I had to get one. I knew buds would probably have it and sure enough they did, I have had the gun for about 2 weeks and have put about 3-400 rounds through it. It is an awesome gun cant get enough of shooting it I especially like this load a little more powerful then the 357 and less then the 44 magnum, I enjoy shooting the larger caliber guns and this one is better then expected. The model 57 classic came in a Blue/black finish or in Nichol, Buds had no more Nichol Finish so I purchased the Blue/Black finish it's highly polished and has the classic S&W wood grips a beautiful looking gun. I am very happy with the gun and Buds, this is my 8th gun purchased from Buds and I have sold/traded at least 4 guns to them without any problems. Buds has become my go to Gun Shop you cannot beat the prices and the inventory they carry. There staff are experienced and have always answered my questions as soon as asked. I love the layaway plan and have joined there Buds Team well worth the yearly cost I highly recommend becoming a team member if you plan on buying a few guns from Buds. What can I say.... I've shot a lot of .44 Mag, 357 Mag, etc... I really love the .41 Mag. Glad I bought it, it was a joy to shoot.

Pros: Cylinder lockup is tight and is a very good shooter with an excellent trigger system. I put 75 rounds through it some factory and hand loads. The bluing is nice and even for the most part. Cons: Should not really be any for a S&W but there are some.... The under barrel lug has a gap between the barrel and cylinder frame. Not the cylinder and barrel they are great just the under lug portion. The rifling cut looks unfinished at the end of the barrel not tapered at the end and lacked bluing. I was able to use a bluing pen to correct the lack of bluing but when looking at the business end of the barrel it looks like an octagon instead of round. I will keep it because as I said before its a great shooter. S&W needs to be made aware of these oversights in my opinion.

Beautifully made and finished this revolver will last forever when well maintained. The Model 57 is an extremely functional work of art. I'm going to echo the two previous reviews on this Smith. I'm less than impressed with the fit and finish. There is a noticeable gap between the bottom of the barrel lug and the frame, as if the barrel's not fully threaded into the frame. The cylinder release sticks sometimes, so much so that a sharp blow with the ball of the hand is required to open the cylinder. The muzzle crown is as described below, rough and unfinished. And the blueing leaves a lot to be desired, thin and cloudy. It's almost like S&W has all their top craftsmen working on the M&P plastics and the apprentices are clunking out the revolvers with little to no supervision. I expect better from S&W.

Well after getting this off layaway I noticed the hammer not pulling back right. So I pulled the trigger and the gun froze up on me. Something broke internally before I could even fire a round. The fit and finish is not good as well. Not a deep bluing and the grips have gaps. I am sending this POS back to Smith ASAP. This is unacceptable. I picked it up this morning and before I got out of my car it was seized. So I called Smith as soon as I got inside my home to find out they are training their customer service. They will not be able to send me a RMA until Monday. Not Buds fault but this gun I would avoid. Get the older model.

The model 57 was received from Buds with no problems. The service from Buds was good and as advertised. The gun was typical Smith & Wesson. The fit and finish was excellent, and the wood stocks were beautiful and well fitted. However, the barrel crown looked like the end of a knarled sewer pipe. There were metal scrap pieces adhering to the rifling and extending out onto the muzzle crown. The ends of the barrel rifling were rough and protruded onto the edge of the crown. There appeared to be no beveling or smoothing of the barrel crown. It appears as though the crown was done prior to the barrel being rifled. Not good to look at on such a beautiful gun. I sent the gun back to S&W at their request after they viewed the digital pictures I sent them. Also the white outline rear sight had almost no white outline. The paint was almost completely rubbed off the sight. A beautiful gun, but poor quality control. It gets a three in my book.

Great price from Buds and vey fast shipping, and what can I say about the S&W 41 mag , well not only does it look great and is one of the Best rounds as far as flat shooting and very hard hitting . My MODEL 57 came in flawless condition, this handgun is flat out beautiful. This is my 4th purchase through buds and I'm very excited about taking my new .41 magnum out to the range. As long as buds keeps doing business the way they are right now, I will be a life customer. Thank you buds for doing business in an honest manner, I really wish I would have started using buds several years ago!

Bought one of these a few months ago. Bud's handled the transaction and shipping very well, as they have on all of my transactions with them. This particular gun had great blueing, really pretty stocks and a fine action with especially nice staging. Accuracy as delivered was as good as my best revolvers. I did notice an uneven barrel to cylinder gap and called S&W customer service. They replaced the barrel and returned the gun in two weeks. It now has a perfect B/C gap of .004". I finally shot it yesterday and got a few 1" groups rested at 25 yards. 40 lead rounds left no leading at all. Love this revolver!

This is one great looking revolver ,action smooth both double and single.went to the range to give it a try and the results were great. Shooting full load 215gr swc/gc bullets it shot the first group high and left , sight adjustment and it started putting them right in the bullseye,groups were very consistent 2" to3" , sights are a bit fine need a little more width in rear blade , trigger smooth about 4lbs recoil was medium about 30% more than a 357 mag , balance and weight of the N-framed 6" barrel made for a very controllable targeting shooting session,a very good looking accurate shooting revolver ,as to be expected with a smith&wesson of this quality. Forgot to mention the grips were excellent. If you want the apex of 41mag calibers being made this is the one to buy....excellent revolver.

Excellent in all respects. Been waiting for a long time to get the Model 57. Typically smooth S & W trigger, whether single or double action. Fit and finish just fine.

I've been waiting for this one for a while. Other than the goofy safety lock which attorneys make them have, it is good quality. Did a single and double action job and it shoots well.

Got it Tue. and finally went to the range on Thur and put 50 rounds through it. Very smooth action with a lot less kick than I thought it would have. Best revolver I've ever shot...hands down. The sights were way off but nothing a little adjustment can't take care of. Not for small hands. Also Bud's has great prices and excellent service. This gun is truly a classic.....an investment because I'm pretty sure prices will be going up and up on this one.
