I love this little gun. It shoots about 2" groups a 100 Yds using a Burris FF3 and has no failure to fire issues.

This review is about buds not the mini 14. In my opinion the rifle has nothing to do with this since budsgunshop did not make the gun obviously. No problems except it shipped on the seventh day, but it says 3 to 7 business days so cant really complain. The rifle is beautiful and is advertised correctly. First time buying online and went well except that it took 6 days to process. Like I said though not a valid complaint. I am just impatient. Altogether it was really simple and the price was right. Thanks buds, I will definitely be shopping here again.

I own an older Mini 14 from 2003-ish, and I love the gun, so when I saw that Ruger had made alleged improvements to the Mini, I ordered the tactical model. When it arrived, it had a dime sized chunk missing from the handguard. I was perturbed, but chose to write it off and just bought a new handguard out of my own pocket. Next, I mounted the exact same scope on my new tactical Mini as my older one had, a BSA 6-24x40. Went to the range. Gun would not sight in. With the elevation adjustment maxed out, I was shooting 7 inches low. Research suggested that I needed lower scope rings. My older Mini's configuration bore this out, as it had Ruger factory #4 rings, whereas the tactical model had shipped with #5 rings. Just to be sure, I mounted a different scope on the tactical, and same thing: 6 inches low with no adjustment left. So I called Ruger, and despite both my research and my other Mini suggesting that I needed LOWER rings, they insisted that I needed HIGHER rings, and to their credit, they sent me #6 rings free of charge. Knowing that I needed lower rings, I went ahead and bought a set of #4s out of my own pocket. When they got here, all the rings had steel "turds" around the recoil lug that prevented them from seating onto the receiver mounts smoothly. I had to dremel the excess material off to get them to fit. Very poor machining from Ruger for a $65 set of rings. Finally, with the #4 rings attached and scope mounted, the rifle now shoots correctly. Ruger spent decades building a Mini 14 that left something to be desired in the accuracy department, and then subsequently having supposedly fixed those issues, they sent me a gun with incompatible rings. Thinking really seriously of selling both my Minis and getting a Springfield M-14. Doh!
