This was my first firearm purchase from Buds. The price for the Ruger SR556FB was far less than what I would have paid locally, even without the cash discount price. Shipping was exceptionally slow considering I ordered with a credit card on Sunday and the order did not ship until the following Thursday. That aspect was a disappointment. But the rifle I ordered arrived at my FFL in perfectly new condition as advertised with no shipping damage or missing parts.
As for the Ruger SR556FB rifle itself, it is a solid well-built AR-15. It may cost more than other AR rifles, but you get what you pay for. Ignore other reviewer complaints about the rifle weight. It is a heavy rifle, but not that heavy. I put a bipod and vertical grip on mine and it still wasn't too heavy to hold and shoot accurately. And it is very accurate. It is the first AR I've ever shot and I was shooting off-hand groups with cheap .223 ammo in 2-3 inches at 25 yards using only the iron sights and with the added weight of the bipod and vertical grip. And my vision isn't all that great. I plan to buy a red dot sight for it, and I have no doubt the accuracy will be far better. The Troy battle grips that install on the rails are hard to install and adjust. There are no instructions in the manual on how to do it, but Ruger has a video on their web site that sort of shows how to do it. I wrecked one of the grips trying to adjust it, and Ruger quickly sent me a whole new set for free, no questions asked. You cannot ask for better customer service. I own many Ruger firearms, I've never had a bad one, and the SR-556FB is a great addition to my collection. If you've got the money for it, buy it. Buds has the best price -- just don't be in a hurry to receive it.
