The original SR-22R came with the Nordic housing that requires you to remove the scope mount rail to disasemble, which may require re-zeroing each time. The one I received in December 2012 is the updated version, where you can just wiggle it out easily, no need to remove the scope mount rail. The quality of the housing is well built, very snug fit. The thickness of the anodizing could be a little better though. My handguard is not aligned perfectly with the scope mount rail, off by only 1-2 degrees. But, I never planned on using iron sights anyway with this rifle. If you want to straighten it out perfectly, you'll need a spanner/hook wrench, which you can get from reidsupply.com The front barrel support with sling swivel is not needed, it's only there for cosmetic reason, so that the barrel will align right in the middle of the handguard. By removing the barrel support, the accuracy will improve tremendously. I took mine off and the barrel still points straight enough where I cannot tell it's off in any way. The handguard is only bolted on with two screws at the bottom. If you are shooting bench, that will typically have the same pressure on the handguard everytime and your POI should be the same when using iron sights. But, if you are shooting off hand, the lack of bolts to keep the handguard completely solid to the receiver, it may twist just enough to throw your POI off when using irons, so keep that in mind. I always prefer the pistol grip for better trigger control, the trigger that comes with it is just standard. The barrel is a heavy barrel, compared to the tapered one with the standard 10/22. Conclusion, I got this rifle to use with a scope and not irons, so for now, the handguard design flaw is not an issue for me. If you only planned on using a scope, then this rifle should do you justice and pretty accurate at that, once you remove the barrel support.

Wow... a 10/22 on steroids. The gun is very accurate and reliable. I matched it with up with a BSA Sweet .22 scope, Ruger's BX-25 magazine and shot CCI's without any problem at all. It is much heavier than my standard 10/22 but with the all metal construction, that would be expected. The gun just "feels" good and with Ruger's long standing reputation for building the premier rimfire auto loaders, I'm comfortable that this gun will be in my possession a long time.

This is the 1st of many guns I will buy from Buds. This rifle is AMAZING for a 22 auto, but it is a fancy looking 10/22 so...... You can feed it any ammo from the wally world crap to CCI and get flawless preformance. This rifle also takes any 10/22 magizines and can put round after round in the same spot. My only complaint is tearing it down. It requires many different tools and time, but you rairly have to do so. I also suggest you take the rail and pistol grip off and put a dot of lock tight on them. GREAT GUN LOADS OF FUN!!!!

I received my Ruger SR22 LR, the other day. Buds shipped it quickly, as usual. I am very impressed with the rifle. It is very solid and well made, as are all Ruger products. I had to order a very high mount with scope. My other mounts were to low. I have not shot it yet but expect it to shoot as well as my other 10/22. When my red dot scope comes in, I will take it too the range and give it a good workout. I would recommend it to anyone that likes the AR 15 style. I have handled other brands that felt very light and cheaply made plus having to buy expensive magazines. This rifle takes all Ruger 10/22 LR mags, which are inexpensive and easy to find. I would recommend Buds to anyone and this rifle to anyone looking at a 22LR. 22 LR ammo and guns are the future, it cost almost a dollar a round to shoot my .308 and 30/06. Ammo has gotten to costly to have fun anymore, but 22 LR ammo is still a bargan. Thanks for the soapbox. This is my fourth gun from Buds and I have one on backorder. Long live Buds.
