I've had my PPK/S for almost two years; it's my primary concealed-carry. Once a "slide-locks-open" problem was fixed at the factory, it's been flawless ever since. I probably lost a tiny spring the first time I opened it.
I like carrying one in the chamber, loaded. With the internal firing pin block, the long DA trigger pull, and the manual safety, I have no issues about it's safety. At the range, I practice drawing, flipping up the safety, and deliberately firing that first round DA. The KEY is to know your weapon, and practice accordingly.
It is beautiful, and a legendary gun. Perhaps a lighter Ruger LCP might do the job, but I guess I'm a traditionalist!
.380 gives me the compromise I need between a mouse gun, and concealability. I wear an IWB, with the grip under my shirt, for total concealment. I work in an office, I'm not an LEO.
