Magnum Research DE1911G 1911 Desert Eagle 45 ACP 5.05" 8+1 W [DE1911G]
$739.00
by Larry F
Date Added: Monday 21 February, 2011
I purchased my Desert Eagle 1911 from Bud's in November, 2010. I also own 1911's from Springfield, Kimber and S&W, and I was interested in adding yet another to my collection. Colts were too expensive, and I didn't want to settle for one of the Philippine versions. I considered the Remington R1, but it appeared to be more crudely manufactured than the DE, and would've required another $150 in additional parts to match the standard features of the DE1911. The Remington also could not match the out of the box trigger of the DE.
This gun arrived within a week after ordering, and I am completely satisfied with its performance. I have run nothing but 185 grain JHP handloads through it, and it has performed with 100% reliability. Other DE1911 owners to whom I've spoken have reported similar experiences. It is well made, accurate, and looks great. Some folks don't like the large "Desert Eagle 1911G" rollmark on the slide, or the front cocking serrations, but those are non issues for me. My main complaint would be that the black sights need to have a 3 dot arrangement or some other treatment to increase their visibility on poorly lit indoor ranges. I was not interested in night sights or fiber optics...I'm a basic traditionalist when it comes to 1911's.
The gun comes with 2 ACT mags, which appear to be of decent quality. The traditional wooden, double diamond stocks are also a plus in my book. All in all, a great 1911 at a great price, and great service once again from Bud's.
