Ruger SR9c 9mm Compact
[3313]
$429.00
by Angelo M Date Added: Thursday 26 April, 2012
Well ive put about 500 rounds of ammo through this gun and ill do my best to give a good review.

To start out this is my first HANDGUN. I spent about 4months trying to decide which handgun to buy as my first since it would serve as my concealed carry weapon. After watching countless hours of youtube video reviews and browsing lots of forums i decided that not much was bad about the Ruger SR9c. (The Glock 19 was a close second and might end up being my second handgun =P)

So i bought it from buds on a wednesday at 11pm and had it at my FFL which is across the US from buds on friday. In other words shipping was great!

As for the gun: obviously getting to know your gun before carrying and or shooting it is important. I watched as many videos i could of people taking apart their sr9c and cleaning it and putting it back together. I got the gun and brought up the best video i watched, step by step took it apart and cleaned out the metal shavings from the fabrication process, also cleaned/lubricated it with hoppes No 9/Rem Oil. So far i really liked the gun the way it fit my hand and the way it operated. (1911 safety lever is amazing).

As for shooting: I took it out to the range with some Federal American Eagle 124 Grain ammo. I jammed about 2/10 rounds. I was frustrated that the gun was jamming and to make a long story on this short- my ruger only takes the 115grain federal american eagle without jamming. I shot some remington hollow point 124 and that worked fine. So far out of 3 124 grain ammos only the federal has jammed. But i got away from the federal all together last week when i tried out winchester 155grain white box. Its amazing. Not too dirty at least for me, and i havent had 1 jam in the 350+ rounds ive fired through my gun.

This was a very long review but i wanted to make sure everyone had an idea mainly on the ammo what my experiences were. The gun is great for carry, the weight is perfect, having the 17round magazine for the range is very fun (its legal in my state) and i love the features of the gun.

PS- UNDER THE TRIGGER GUARD YOULL NOTICE IT IS ROUGH LIKE IT WAS SANDED. RUGER DOES THIS TO MAKE THE TRIGGER GUARD STRONGER TO PREVENT WEARING DOWN FROM HOLSTER USE WITH THE GUN. DONT PANIC. =) Thanks buds!
