Ruger SR9c 9mm Compact Black

This is my first handgun. So far it feels great in the hand and seems to be as accurate as I can possibly be given my skill level.

It did fail to eject or stove pipe 100% of the time when using Ammo Kan branded 115 grain reloads. I did not have any issues with boxed ammo like Speer Lawman, etc. My mom tried it and it failed to eject or stove piped a lot for her...probably a limp wrist jam but something to watch for if you're a new shooter.

One thing I didn't hear about at all when I first researched this gun is how INCREDIBLY TIGHT THE SLIDE IS. Oh my goodness, it takes so much force to rack the slide on this that if you slip you might end up losing a finger! I have about 200 rounds through it and racked the slide manually about 1000 times too to try and loosen it...it's a little better now but still way too difficult for my wife to be comfortable with it. You can't press the slide release and let it snap forward like a 1911...you have to slingshot it.
If you are thinking about this as a family gun or a lady's gun, try to get your hands on it to try the slide first.

The 10 round magazine feels great in my full grown man hands with the pinky extension and even better at the range with the 17 round magazine.
The fact that it comes with both magazines plus a speed loader and a gun lock in a plastic box makes for a nice kit.
