Received shotgun yesterday. I purchased the 887 in black. This one in Bone Collector for my son.
Cleaned and oiled. Worked action with dummy rounds. Smooth, little stiff. To be expected, new shotgun. Shot four rounds of skeet this morning. Action is smooth, no hangups, or misfires. Ejections were fine. Slide did stick a few times. Since the other 887 did not, we attribute this to cleaning and/or operational. My son has a tendency to pull back hard when firing. After changing this habit, "sticking" went away.
Extremely pleased with the improvements on the tried and true 870. The large, front mounted slide release. Breaks down with no tools and twice as fast. Armor lokt coating is amazing. No worries about corrosion on this firearm.
Came with modified choke, turkey choke, gun lock, extra orange front site. My son LOVES turkey hunting. First game hunt was turkey. He made a head shot, with a 22, at 40 yards. He as 12. This will be his new turkey gun.
I expect this to function well in the field. Will know soon. Going dove hunting next weekend.
My son has been shooting my old 870 for the last 10 years. He picked this one out. The 870 is now my daughters shotgun. I expect my great great grandchildren will be hunting with the 870 and the 887's.
