Wanted an AR with gas-piston design and Ruger didn't disappoint with this rifle. All the picatinny rail options are fantastic. Flip up sights are also good quality and hold the sight picture after 1000 rounds.
Why gas-piston? I've used the M4/M16 for years and dealing with the hot gas buildup with direct impingement is one of the stupidest designs Armalite and Cold afterward could have gone with. Especially when there were already decades of gas-piston examples out there that were proven and reliable.

This was my first purchase with Bud's, it was an extremely smooth process. My firearm was shipped within 5 business days and was at my FFL location within 1 day. The Ruger 5.56 16IN is awesome. I will use Bud's again.

Had to contact Bud's customer service several times before they would ship to the PRNJ (peoples republic of NJ). They must've had the wrong model number on their do not ship list as this model is NJ state compliant. They worked with me and eventually were able to confirm it was legal. Can't really complain too much as Buds had the best price online with free shipping. Only blew through around 100 rounds on iron sights and after some fairly significant adjustments (probably due to my check weld) was able to consistantly hit 12 inch steel plates at 100 yards. I have heard complaints about the weight of this platform but it really didn't bother me. Next week I'll scope it but I never have run across any problems with Rugers (this is my only my fourth) and don't anticipate any with this purchase. May seem a little pricey if your looking for an entry level AR, but rock solid and well worth it.
