Great, heavy duty shotgun with great ghost rings, but a couple flaws. First, in order to clean the gun, you must remove the trigger group, which with this setup means removing the stock. The stock is held on with a large slotted head machine screw (I recommend replacing this with a SS allen bolt from Lowes for a couple bucks. Same goes for the bolt in the grip), but that bolt isn't accessible until you remove the "buffer tube" by backing out a set screw and the castle nut. Now if you don't have an AR and don't know what I'm referring to, that means undoing things that aren't really meant to be undone every time you clean your weapon! Not to mention that the set screw is very small, very short, and is set into soft plastic, so you can imagine the issues that might arise (mine turned sideways in the hole, requiring me to strip out half the threads on the buffer tube, drill the hole out, and replace with a bigger set screw). You also need a castle nut wrench (~$10-25) to do the job right. Second, the bayonet lug was 5mm too far forward for a standard Ontario Knife Co bayonet. To fix this, I purchased a 5mm thick, 1" diameter steer tube spacer from a local bike shop (~$1) and installed it underneath the magazine tube cap. This did the trick pretty well. I will mention that this was an M7B bayonet (M7 blade with M9 grip), so maybe the M7 or M9 would fit as is, but I doubt it... As far as ergonomics, the grip feels great, but the slide release is NOT conveniently located for your thumb. Unless you have the hands of a giant, you need to drop the gun from your shoulder to work the slide release, then raise it back up to take a shot. Overall, great gun with some inconvenient design flaws. I would recommend it for someone looking for the black gun fear factor, the military toughness, and the 9 round capacity. I would not recommend it to someone who does not appreciate having to tinker with the weapon to keep it operational.

Great shotgun. While Buds took longer than expected to ship (before the rush) and I got a bit of an attitude when I asked about it, this Mossberg was delivered with no issues. It eats anything and is a ton of fun to shoot. A Mossberg 590 should be in every home. It's a devastating weapon that will last a lifetime. This model in particular has the extra round capacity and the ATI stock that is not bad at all. The ghost ring sites are unnecessary but they do give those like me who are used to M16's and AR's an added level of comfort. Buy one today.

Good solid gun, It's a heavy beast, but feels good. I put a second pistol grip on the pump and added a flashlight. The only complain about this gun is the Mossberg safety is on the top of the gun, making it impossible to switch from safe to fire while holding the pistol grip. Regardless, I love this gun and it fits nicely with my Rem 870 and Siaga.
