I had been trying to buy one of these locally for several months, and after getting the run-around from my local dealer, I figured I'd give Buds a chance. Very glad I did, as they had the gun in stock and in my hands within five days of ordering. Amazing when you consider I waited four months from my local Beretta authorized dealer, and never received anything.
As for the gun, it's been everything I hoped it would be. In terms of construction, it's definitely top notch. Everything is machined beautifully - inside and out - and it all fits together into a solid and inspiring weapon. I've usually tended towards glossy finished stocks - the Beretta is my first satin finish, and it's really quite handsome. The stock is easily adjusted, and the included set of weighted foreend caps make it easy to find a natural fit. Only slight issue is that the wood forestock is a bit too snug for my liking, taking a patient hand to assemble or disassemble the gun. My local smith and shooting partner tells me this will likely improve with time, so I'll reserve judgement.
In the field, I find it to shoot great. I've only owned it a few weeks, but I've already put several hundred rounds through it, and I'm not at all disappointed. Everything from low recoil light target loads up through magnum buckshot has cycled through the gun with not a single jam or misfire at all. It feels comfortable to me, and my skeet scores feel like they've jumped 10-20%. Recoil is also quite well controlled - to me, it doesn't feel that different than my wife's soft-shooting 20 gauge Remington 1100. Although some complain about cleaning Beretta 391's, I don't find it any worse than any other gun I've owned...about 15 minutes with the right tools is plenty.
Overall, totally happy with Beretta and with Buds!
