This is considered an "old-fashioned" round---but it is rather quiet and extraordinarily accurate in my Savage 93 F 22 Mag.bolt gun, averaging .75 inch 5 shot groups at 60 yards(Williams peep). It is jaw-droppingly effective on huge NM jacks at 75 yards or so, and reliable on large cottontails at 100 yds with little meat destruction. Groundhogs and hard-headed opposum are far more effectively taken than with a 22 LR . Coyotes at 50-80 yards are humane one -shot propositions in the thorax with this 45 grain flatnose. Almost no pelt damage. The guys at my gunshop sneeze at this round, preferring the fast 30-40 grain 22 WMR, but this round is half the price and really reliable. It doesn't richochet like thefaster stuff, either--a real consideration in rocky New Mexico. If you like to target shoot and hunt for meat and an occasional pelt, this is as good as it gets for the money(12 cents a round).
