I absolutely love this gun. I've had an XD for a long time now and have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the .45 to come out in the XDM model. I finally got it last Friday and had to immediately take it outside to shoot. I love everything about the gun; with one exception. Springfield Armory likes to brag up the new serrations on the XDM, but I found them to be less effective than the base model XD. I'm not sure if this is because my guide rod spring is still pretty tight and I haven't broken it in just yet, or what the issue is, but I found it a little difficult to rack the slide.... not that it was tough to do it, but I do like my XD's serrations better than the XDM.
I also really liked the fact that they decided to stay with the same magazine for both the XDM and the XD models. I've purchased several mags for my XD and I'm pretty happy that they are interchangeable with my new XDM. I am, at the same time, a little disappointed that the XDM didn't up-the-number of rounds in its capacity. The 9mm and the .40 went up in round counts, but the .45 stayed the same; not a big deal because 13 +1 rounds is plenty when you're talking about .45 ACP. Plus, if you're like me, you already own the mag extensions for the XD; so I've got 17+1 for mine.
I also wanted to say thanks to Buds; you guys were awesome. Great e-mail communication, and extremely fast shipping. Plus, it couldn't have gone more easily than what you guys made it for me with my FFL dealer; you had their license on file and the transfer was flawless and effortless. The only thing I need to do is be careful about how much I spend with you guys because your prices are awesome, especially since I get the cash discounts with money orders. Thanks again guys, keep up the great work and service.
