This is an excellent shotgun with good fit and finish. There is a slight wobble in the forend (pump) grip and the parkerized finish is not quite flawless, but it looks very good and operates flawlessly. As soon as you hold it in your hands, you know it is well built and will outlast you. Shells chamber easily, the top mounted ambidextrous safety and pump release lever are easy to access, and the ghost ring sights are wonderful. I'm very glad I chose the 18.5" barrel. It's got some heft, but is very manageable and maneuverable. 6 shots (5 + 1) is plenty, but if you want more, you can add a magazine tube extension and squeeze in another round or two. I'm convinced the 20" barrel 8-shot version would've been a bit unwieldy (certainly front heavy) and too much for my wife to manage at all. The synthetic stock was a bit long for me (I'm 6'0" 190 lbs. with reasonably long arms, but the 14.5" LOP was a bit too much) so I ran it through the table saw and cut off an inch which made a huge difference. I masked it with tape and used a 60 tpi fine cut sawblade which sliced through so cleanly you can't tell it was cut off (except the rubber pad now is slightly larger than the synthetic butt where the two meet, but it looks fine). I also had to drill the two pad fastener holes a tad deeper with 1/8" drill bit. Simple stuff. 15 minutes of easy labor and I have an excellent home defense shotgun and range toy custom fit to my frame. Cleaned and lubed it, racked the pump about a hundred times at home, then went to the range and shot 50 shells (2 3/4" Federal Game Shok #6). The pump action is a little stiff to start, but smoothing out nicely after that little break in. Should be nice and smooth after another 150 shells or so. The instructions for disassembly and reassembly leave a lot to be desired (very abstract and not wonderfully illustrated) but there are a few good YouTube overviews that can help you out if you get stuck. As usual, Bud's was a delight to purchase from, and a very fast processing for so near the holidays (only 6 days from purchase to holding it in my hands). I highly recommend this shotgun for home defense and/or range play. And I recommend buying from Bud's!
