By now, virtually everyone has at least heard of the name Glock before. The Glock family of handguns has been around for quite some time now and has continued to be the battle tested, law enforcement carried, tough, durable, reliable, "ugly" handgun. The Glock 19 is no different. The Glock 19 Gen 4 is the newest generation of the 19, and minus a few cosmetic and mechanical changes, its the same gun it's always been. 4 inch barrel, 15 round mags, you know the drill. The additions to this model from the gen 3 include the dual spring, adjustable grips, stippled grip, and a few internal parts that don't change a thing (i.e. the bump on the lower receiver). I decided to go with this generation 19 over the 3rd after I shot the two of them at the range a while back. While I didn't notice the difference there is, if any, with recoil from the gen 3 to 4, I felt the grips were just more comfortable for my hands, which are small. The gun shoots accurately at all distances, is super easy to take apart and clean, and just never gives up. You can shoot it for hours on end and not see a malfunction or bad feed, etc. Only thing that sometimes happens is the occasional casing to the head / face area which happened about 1-2 times per range visit with mine, but it's not an issue if wearing proper protection. Overall, unless you hate Glock (how can you?) this gun won't disappoint. The hardest thing is finding one! Its inexpensive, shoots great, is great size and weight, and if you can carry in your state, I recommend it as a carry because it's not too big and not too small. Surely its not perfect, but for new shooters or veteran shooters alike, if you are looking for a great 9mm, don't overlook the Glock 19.
