Thought I would update my former negative review after problems with a defective extractor. Bushmaster sent me a replacement extractor in a timely fashion. After I installed the replacement, the rifle functioned perfectly. The original extractor looked like a machining defect or an after-market part--not really sure which, but there was a noticeable difference in the machining of the original and the replacement. It was easy to see why the original did not work because there was no bevel on the face of the extractor. Anyway, the CAR-15 is one slick little rifle: light as a feather with wonderful handling characteristics. And it's a sure-enough tack driver. This was my first experience with a Red Dot, and It took me just 4 shots to zero it in using the included instractions--after which I was dead center on a nickel-sized bulls eye from around 25 yards. I'll take it to the range later in the week to see how that translates at a greater distance. I am now extremely pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend this rifle at this price.
