Fit and finish on this was a little rough. Cylindar lock up felt tight and solid, but it wobbels a when you swing it out to load it. Also looks like the barrel is slightly off center of you look at the crown from the front the gun, hard to really explain without seeing it. Mine has crimson trace grips on it I think I'll like those once I sight it in. Recoil with 38 specials is easy, 357 still bites a bit. Overall I like my scandium j-frame better, but it's kinda is a differnt gun all together. I'm just a little disappointed with mine after I heard all the raves about a 3" sp101. The trigger is awful after 100 rounds. I hope it smooths up, but it's still a mile long on DA. I will probably keep mine though and practice alot to see if I can get better with it. If I can't i'll start by making the trigger better and go from there. I will say that this thing feels like a tank that will never break. I shot some full house 357 from mine. I imagine this could handle those all day, which I'm not sure my scandium j-frame could. My hand is another story...
This is a good first revolver though. It would be a good gun to teach people on with light target loads. If you have a little more $, a 3" k-frame or even a j-frame would be a nicer gun (I'm not trying to be a S&W snob, but in this case I think it's true). If you buy the sp101, you kinda have to be shopping for something that you would deploy in rugged situations and expect to take a beating. Like a woods gun or something. This isn't my ideal CCW weapon, but I might leave it in an automobile and feel like I never have to worry about it. It's a heavy little gun too. It's fills a niche.
As usual, Bud's delivered perfectly. I havn't had a bad experience with them yet. A+ on customer service.
