Ruger 1022 Standard 22LR, Blued, Hardwood 1022RB [1103]

This is a fantastic rifle. However, before purchasing one, the are a few things to consider. You can get an equally fun and functional quality .22 from any of the other major manufacturers... usually for less money. The trigger pull on the 10/22 is on the heavy side. The magazine and bolt release levers can be awkard to operate. And... if your not careful, you can wind up spending more than you ever thought reasonable on a .22.
On the plus side, it is reliable. It shoots straight and can produce pretty nice groups. It is just plain fun to shoot. Your imagination and budget are about all that can limit you as far as what you can do with one of these. On mine, I have added a Fajen T/H stock, new trigger group with a lighter trigger, extended mag release, bull barrel, and an 8x-32x scope. At 50yds with CCI Green Tag, five round groups can routinely fit under a penny when bench shooting.
I do feel this rifle is overpriced compared to it's competitors (Marlin 60, Savage 64, Remington 597), but is still a value for the fun it offers. I gave it four stars based soley on how the rifle comes from Ruger. I believe based soley on price, I would be inclined to go with one of the other manufacturers, but I wanted to make a custom rifle, so the 10/222 is what I got. If it were priced the same as the others, I would likely be my choice.
