I owned this gun for a month now. I want to thank Bud’s for a smooth, and easy transaction, and fast shipping. I like that you can easily get info on the phone from Bud’s. Very happy to purchase from Bud’s again.
I am disappointed with Mossberg for this one. It is cheap, and I mean cheap. The most important thing I believe everyone should know is THIS GUN IS MADE IN BRAZIL! Quality control is piss poor, might as well have been made in China. Right out of the box, working the action, I knew it needed work. The action was way too rough and dirty. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap red dot to mount.
I took everything down and cleaned it. Noticed the receiver, and bolt had so much overspray from paint. I sanded the bolt and all parts that the bolt rode on until smooth. Oiled and reassembled the rifle. I left out the plastic sights, it was total crap. Took it to the range. It liked the Federal bulk and CCI mini mag. Had a few feed jams, but not too bad. The magazine is a piece of crap. Could not get more than 11 rounds until I used a screw driver to pull the top spring down. Could not get more than 20 rds still. Ran the gun hard with about 500 rds.
Took the gun back apart and cleaned it again. Lots of metal from bullet shavings trapped inside. The action needed more filing, and sanding. I pulled out the ole Dremmel and proceeded to modify the hammer to a slight wedge. With the barrel removed completely, I filed the bottom of the barrel lip to more match the feed ramp, and also filed a little on the ramp. Best improvement yet, and the action is way smoother. I also took the magazine apart. Drilled a hole in the follower, cut a slot in the side of the plastic and metal parts so I can get a small pin to pull the follower all the way down to fill the magazine.
I have not shot the rifle since but I am convinced that all the time and work I put into it will make it a fun gun to shoot. I will repost after I shoot it. If you don’t have any mechanical skills, don’t buy this rifle. I gave it 3 stars because I knew exactly what I was buying.
