Junk. Scope rings screwed more on one side than other...by a lot. Rings not aligned either. Total scope mounting junk job. Spent $45 $35 to get bore-sighted and new scope rings put on cause screws were over tightened, stripped, and rings were not right size. Hard to believe that this was the manufacturer’s doing....

Buds delivered with a great price and prompt shipping. The Savage Axis comes with scope installed. I always remove and reinstall premounted scopes packages. It has been my experience that the factory installation leaves something to be desired. This rifle was no exception. The scope ring and clamp screws were finger tight. The scope base screws were tight. I reinstalled the bases with blue loc-tite. I upgraded the scope rings with Burris Zee rings installed with blue loc-tite. There was excess oil under the scope bases that flowed into the polymer stock resulting in a color change. I am not concerned with it but another purchaser might have been. Once a trigger kit is installed I am finished "upgrading" the rifle. The Savage Axis is an accurate rifle. It is a basic, no frills firearm. The bolt and magazine take some getting used to. They do not function as smooth as a higher priced firearm. All that said, the Savage Axis shoots straight and works as intended. The above should be read as directed at Savage. I am pleased with the sale and service as provided by Buds.

So its a $218 rifle/scope combo after rebate. Don't expect to be an expert sniper with this rig. You will have success with decent groupings out to 200yds. Ensure you check/retighten the scope mount/rings after every use. If you want more than 200yds out of the rifle I suggest you upgrade the scope package. Its a .243 so more than 300yds and you will be looking at a different caliber rifle. You may want to replace the trigger as its a bit heavy. The only real downer is the magazine catch being plastic, buy a spare if you plan to use this rifle a lot. Overall, a good rifle for the price that is certainly very capable from 100-200yds, pushing its limits out to 300yds. Highly recommend as an entry level rifle.

Nice Hunting Rifle-Savage Axis XP .243 This is a nice rifle for the money. It's solid and shoots well. It's not pretty, which isn't what you're paying for. It's a hunting rifle. It does it's job well. Right out of the box, only minor adjustments to the scope for windage and elevation, and proper barrel break-in, and this thing was shooting nicely. Repeated 5 shot groups at 100 yards, bench-rested. All were sub 1 inch, no flyers. I use good quality factory ammo. Nice crisp trigger break. This is a utilitarian rifle, not a pretty piece of art. It doesn't look fancy, but it shoots nicely. Great rifle for little money.

Great starter gun for my daughter and grandson from Buds. Smooth Action and the bore sighting was very close at 75 yards. I will purchase a larger caliber Axis for myself for next season because of the accuracy and smooth action of the bolt.

Second time buying from BUDS and once again they have surpassed my expectations. BUDS received my payment, moved it to shipping and had it in the hands of my FFL in 3 days. Today I just put a box of winchester super x 100 grain and the gun worked perfect. The scope right out of the box for me was just about dead on at 50-75 yds. I would suggest buying this gun for anyone wanting to doing anything from killing varmints and coyotes to hunting deer(depending on your ammo). Over all 5/5 for me once again from BUDS

Took this out and put some rounds through it. Wife absolutely loves it for her first deer rifle. Shoots great and was very accurate right out of the box. Shipping was quick and it was a pleasure dealing with Bud's for the first time.
