Purchased this as my first hunting rifle and I am not disappointed. I do not get to hunt as often as I like and when I do hunt, it's usually 200 yards or less, so I went down the more budget conscious path. Build quality is very good and the action is very smooth...tho .308 packs a nice punch. I did upgrade the trigger with a $20 kit from MCarbo which was a breeze to install and greatly improved the trigger performance (no Accutrigger on this model). Added a Diamondback Vortex scope, bipod, and a sling. So for a reasonable price, I feel I have a great quality rifle for the amount / type of hunting I do. Though I'm an inexperienced rifle shooter, I have experienced hunting friends helping me with my techniques. It wasn't long before I was hitting 1-2" groups at 100 yds and 2-4" groups at 200 yds. Very pleased overall.

Gun shot well is accurate to 100+ yards bought it as a back up gun for hunting. Great gun for the price. Did well with Hornady superformance ammo. recoil is hard but many 308's are about the same even those with a higher price point. Would recommend.

A couple of years ago, I bought the 308 AXIS for myself as a hunt camp spare. My oldest daughter used it and fell in love with the AXIS so she told she was trading her Marlin for my Savage. Now daughter number 3 has started hunting and has been using the hand-me down Remington Model 7 Youth. She told me that she wanted her sister's AXIS as she likes the way it shoots. Both like the weight of the rifle and how well it shoulders. So I bought daughter #3 the 308 from BUD's as a birthday present. For the price, it is hard to find a starter rifle as accurate as the AXIS. I recommend buying just the rifle and putting your on scope on it. The packaged scope is marginal at best. Let's hope that Savage keeps the AXIS line.

Shipping was quick. Customer service was excellent. As to the rifle I like its finish and overall feel. Having said that I haven't fired it yet so that is still pending. But you can't beat the price. I like it a lot so far.

Great rifle for the money. Mag is flimsy, but I wasn't shocked since I paid less than 275. Bud's speed and service were excellent.

I received the gun last month April 2015, everything went smoothly besides the waiting list for the FBI background check. I went home to look it over and the only thing that I will complain about is that there was no sight what so ever on the gun the entire barrel on the top was empty. I know when I researched the gun that this should have been included, so I have not actually went out and shot it yet due to not having any way to line up my shot from a distance. I will be buying a scope eventually but right now until I go out and get one it will be sitting in the gun cabinet. It is a beautiful gun and I appreciate the timeliness of the order process! Thanks

Rifle looks good and came very quickly. It is a birthday present for my dad so won't be shooting it for 3 weeks. Ordered a Nikon prostaff 4-12x40 to put on it with Nikon p-223 scope rings.

The gun is very accurate off a stand or bipod, its very light, its got a regular 2 position thumb safety that allows you to clear the action with the safety on The action while long is very smooth. The stock however is flimsy and can be easily torqued by hand.. The magazine must be removed to be reloaded. The trigger is bad, its gritty and heavy and its single stage, I have not been able to get my on shoulder accuracy to even remotely approach my on bench accuracy, this is not a shooters rifle. Plan on a Bipod. I had no trouble finding weaver bases and rings, replacement magazines and accessories are plentiful, and this rifle is very affordable, however it is wise to plan on upgrades.

Arrived at my ffl in 3 days. Looks great!! Havent shot it yet, but Ive heard from multiple sources that out of the box it can make 1 inch groups. All in all im very happy with this purchase and delivery time. Ive already put in more orders from Buds because now i know im going to get exactly what I ordered. Thanks Bud!!!

Amazing gun for the money, money sub moa every time with a decent scope, and buds lies a bit in the description, the magazine holds 4+ 1 in the chamber... overall a great gun with the savage accuracy and dependability...

Buds shipped this gun slow... Took exactly 6 business days for them to ship it. I will probably order from another place next time. Gun is amazing for the price. Bolt is a step above Remington entry levels. Very quick action. Around 2 shots per second or faster with practice. I'm having problems finding a scope base but the xp packages are sold out everywhere.
