Service from Buds was quick and simple. This Savage 12 LRP is an absolute joy to shoot. Probably the most accurate out of the box I have ever seen. Five shots at 100 yards with 140 SMKs group .171. Grandson actually shot thumb tack at 100 yards, one shot. Stock is great, trigger awesome. Have yet to shoot long range but expect good results. Rifle is very heavy, not one you would be happy carrying in the field.

This rifle is extortionary! I could put an apple pie slice in this thing and it will shoot it sub MOA. I put a ladder through this rifle at 100 with 500 fps difference in velocities and it shot a
ragged hole was under 2" wide! I have never seen anything like this. This is simply the most extraordinary rifle I have even better than my custom 300 WM which I love almost as much. Once I found the velocity plateaus this rifle would jagged hole at 100 yards and 1/4 MOA at 200 often 1/8 MOA depending on how good I am.

I have field tested the 12LRP extensively. The first 20 rounds at 100 yards can be covered by a half dollar. There was a "rough patch" in the rifling which was resolved with ten rounds coated with diamond dust. It has a great trigger and a really smooth action. 300 yard and 500 yard performance keeps getting better as I adjust the loads. In 6.5 Creedmoor, I am very pleased with the availability of different bullets, but have not found that this rifle/caliber has any particular preference! I ended up losing a shoot-off in my first competition with the 12LRP, but the rifle was excellent and nut behind the buff flinched the last shot!!!

The better Savages are the best value in rifles, today. This Model 12 is solid. The barreled action, stock, and slick factory trigger combine to produce tiny groups for pennies on the dollar compared to custom guns. If you want more, you’ll have to have it built. The ordering and shipping process is simple and incredibly fast. Highly recommend!

Great rifle and great service from Buds. Installed EGW 20 MOA rail and Vortex Viper 6x24 scope. After 3 shots it was sighted in and hitting the bullseye. Shot sub MOA at 100 yards with first box of factory ammo. Observed some minor copper fouling after first trip to the range. Looking forward to testing this hefty rifle beyond 100 yards!

HS Precision stock is different than the display image, otherwise, it’s exactly as described. Target accutrigger is awesome. Big fluted barrel keeps laying them in shot after shot. First 50 shots were hand loads, averaging .79”-.31” 4-shot groups @ 100yds. Only issue so far is a burr at the edge of the chamber that catches brass as it ejects, leaving a deep scrape in the brass up near the shoulder. I have to hold the empty case away from the edge of the chamber as I eject it.

The first factory rounds that I shot through this rifle were blowing primers. An internet search revealed a known issue with too tight of chamber throats increasing pressure. Mixed reports of Savage reaming chambers again. Hopefully they have the problem sorted out now.

Very pleased with this rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. I love the stock and heavy barrel for bench shooting. I'm getting .50" groups at 100 yards and 2.0" groups at 400 yards. These are 5 shot groups. The only negative is the gun copper fouls badly. I use Wipe Out/ Patch Out cleaner and let it soak overnight. As long as you stay ahead of the fouling the accuracy is outstanding. The favorite bullet for my rifle is the Lapua 139 grain Scenar with H4350. Highly recommend!

I shoot long range once a week at 100-1250 and this gun shoots 1 inch 5 shot groups at 600 yards. I mounted a 20 moa EGW base and a viper 6-24 ffp on it and its almost too easy to hit the 1250 yard steel. I reload 140 grain eld with h4350 and the fun will be how far can I shoot different loads now. It is a very heavy gun but its worth every penny.

Excellent rifle. Shooting 0.5 MOA on first day with hand-loads. Great doing business with Buds again.

As has been said many, many times, Bud's Guns was -and is- absolutly excellent. In my experience, the best. The rifle is top notch as well. Stunning accuracy, very good fit & finish, an excellent trigger, and a great value (dare I say, "bang for the buck"? Sorry. A three-way pun is too hard to pass up.). The H-S Precision stock is a great match for the action. The whole rifle feels great in the hand, and shoots fantastic. Consistently around 1/2 MOA at the ranges I've shot it-admittedly only 100 & 200 yards so far, and only with factory loaded Hornady ammo. The 6.5 Creedmoor is a fabulous cartridge, though I chuckle at the reality that it is little different from the 120+ year old 6.5x55 "Swede". Ah, well. I'm a paper puncher and a plinker, not a hunter, but to me this particular rifle seems a bit too hefty for field use. I also have a Ruger 77 Hawkeye Target in 6.5 Creedmoor (also an excellent rifle); though it too is a beefy boy, it well might fare better for the occasional hunt. In truth, both rifles are designed for "paper ventilation." In my opinion, this Savage is a fine choice if one requires a rifle of this specification. I am very happy with my purchase-I'd do it again without hesitation.

This is the most accurate rifle i have ever had. Fun to shoot. At a 100 yards you hit the bulls eye every time. Easy to hit at 300 yards also. Need to find a range with 500 to 1000 yard targets.

I bought this rifle a couple of weeks ago. It comes with an HS Precision stock an in matte black finish. That being said, I have owned several savage rifles that I have absolutely loved. This one on the other hand apparently has some problem from the factory because even with trying 3 different kinds of ammo through it, the best group I can get out of it at 100 yds is between 1.5"-2". I have even tried the hornady 140gr amax match that everybody likes so much. It shot over 2" at 100 with that ammo. I called Savage and they are wanting me to send it in so they can figure out what the problem is and fix it. The bad thing is their current turn around time is 6 weeks. I understand you can get a bad one in anything you buy, but I only have this one to go on so that's why it gets a 1 star.

I bought this rifle last year for long range shooting at Whittington in New Mexico. I am extremely pleased with this rifle and the results I achieved. Thank you Bud's Gun Shop. Frank M.

Great rifle shoots .5 inch group at 100 yards with Hornady 140gr Amax Match velocity was around 2900 fps. Rifle is topped with a Warne tactical steel 20 moa base, Leupold mk4 steel rings, and Leupold Mk4 LR/T 6.5-20 X 50. Factory trigger came in at 1.1lbs nice and crisp. This did not come with pictured stock was shipped with the HS Precision PST114 style, which was a nice supprise and very comfortable. Fit and finish was excellent although heavy but that was to be expected about 15lbs with optics and Harris bipod.

Fantastic rifle! Incredibly accurate. Shoots 1/2 MOA out to 1000 yards (don't have access to a range that goes beyond that).
