The Optima seems to be a really great middle ground between the cheapest line of muzzleloaders and the expensive tier. The accuracy of the rifle is outstanding. The trigger is one of the best I've used. Practically zero creep on the trigger and it breaks at less than 3 pounds. There may be more accurate and longer distance muzzleloaders available but not near this price point. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend CVA rifles to anyone.

My favorite rifle. With my eyesight starting to fail, I needed to get a muzzle loader that I could mount a scope on. I bought this one because it was on sale and hoped it be as accurate as a more traditional muzzle loader with a 30 inch barrel. I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy with 50 grains of powder and round ball, I had 3 shots cloverleaf at 25 yards shooting from a bench. Offhand, I was able to hit a 6 inch plate at 50 yards on the first shot. Looking forward to getting some aero tip rounds and seeing what I can do at 100 yards.

Great rifle. 3 of us bought one with different options and all the gear for an elk hunt. We shopped around and really liked the CVS. Have used them for seveal hunts now and happy with our choice.

Never been a black powder hunter, saw this cva optima v2 on Buds web site, cheap I thought, so I thought I would give it a try. Haven't deer hunted with anything else since. Got a nice 8 pointer and a doe with it so far , thanks Buds for giving this 70 year old a new hobby!

My first inline muzzleloader and holy cow, first three shots at 100 yds with two Pyrodex pellets behind a 245 gr Powerbelt bullet went into an inch and a half! I have not tried heavier loads but will this year (2023). For the money, this gun is hard to beat.

Gun is reliable and very accurate. Last deer I shot with it was 150 yards away. I would have no problem reaching out to 200 if need be.

I can’t remember when I ordered this muzzleloader but it was several years back. And I’m still using it with no regrets, it is most accurate muzzleloader at a 100 yards I’ve ever shot. KP

Pretty disappointed in the service from Buds. Took nearly 3 weeks to get.
The gun? I love it. Fits me well. The stock feels a bit hollow but it functions well. I have not shot it much its to cold here in NH. My first inline after years of sidelock. Its more accurate then my old 50 and the trigger is amazing. Breaks at just under 3 pounds. Almost to light for hunting. Over all im pleased

Love this gun. If your interested in this muzzle loader don't hesitate. I paired mine with a 3-9x40 and its the first gun I grab when I go to the shooting range. Its just fun to shoot, load, and is very accurate, I shoot very tight groups at a 100 yards compared to other muzzle loaders I see.

Great gun well built an top notch quality. The trigger has virtually no creep hammer comes back very easily with the hammer spur while never moving ur hand put of position. The qrsb breech plug is awesome does exactly as advertised removes easily with out a issue i would reccomend however getting the clean out tool an parts soaker for it makes life a lot easier.the gun is just beautiful the stainless steel cleans up easily an looks good. The easy loading of sabots an powerbelts was excellent i went with federal bore locks an white hots with fed 409 primers an couldnt be happier. If u where looking for a budget gun that doesnt skip on quality this is it An accurate out to 200 yards with out a problem the dead on scope mount it comes with is really nice an easy to mount a scope at home cant recommend this gun enough.

this gun is awesome. my first ML. i put a 3-9x40 nikon bdc scope on it. had it bore sighted. then i took and shot it at 60 yards. first shot was 4 inches low. i cranked the scope up and every shot after that was in the bullseye. I shoot 245 grain power belts and 777 50 grain pellets (i put 2 pellets in which is 100 grains of powder). the bullet/powder cobmo i use is perfect. the gun is easy to clean and the trigger is better than my rifle. this gun also shoot more accurate than my 308!

This replaced an older Optima with barrel pitting problems. The replacement is now sighted in and consistent. I do like the QRBP feature and am keeping the barrel scrupulously clean. GREAT PRICE AND FAST DELIVERY MAKES THIS A WONDERFUL DEAL.

Thank you Buds for a great price. Bad weather has not let me shoot yet but this CVA Optima is built very well. It’s sad you can spend so little on a CVA product and get so much. Spend twice as much on our own brands and have to send it back 1 or 2 times and blow a lot of money on ammo or shooting components trying to figure out it was poor quality the hole time. I’m starting to believe USA brands are being deliberately destroyed for some reason or is it just plain old American greed? We have 3 CVA’s and all three add up to about 1 1-2 American firearms and all 3 shoot better than anything I’ve seen since I was a small child. CVA optima,Hunter and 20 gauge shotgun. They won’t win the beauty pageant in your county but when you use and abuse them in the field you won’t believe your eyes.

I purchased this as a starter Muzzleloader. I put a Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 scope on top of it and was able to use the rings that came with the Muzzleloader. My muzzleloader did not like pyrodex pellets and would shoot a group within 10" using it with 300gr powerbelt aerolites(cleaning between every shot). However it would shoot 3-3.5"groups using trip7 pellets and 300gr aerolites. A 3.5" group may not pacify a lot of people in this world, but I feel for an entry level muzzleloader that is more than satisfactory. I know with a little time at the bench and some BH209 I could probably get these groups down to at least 1-1/2".

Great quality and affordable. Nice looking, easy to handle, easy to shoot, break down and clean. Scope mount is solid. Bought one for myself and one for my daughter. I have only shot 100 yards but hit the mark every time. If you are looking for one of the best entry-level muzzleloaders, this is it.
