I was surprised by how lightweight it is. I've a Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" bbl and it feels a bit more substantial when bringing it to the shoulder when compared to the ASI. But, then again, I paid $259 for the Mossberg (on sale) in 1990 and only $179 for the ASI 25 yrs later. So you get what you pay for. My Mossberg just feels like a lot more gun.
But... they both go "bang!" when you pull the trigger. That's the point of it all, eh?
I had 3 failure to feeds (FTF) while going through a box of 100 Winchester clay rounds. But I attribute that to the gun being new and the action being tight. Plus, to be honest, I wasn't racking the slide to the rear with enough force. Once I concentrated on doing the cycle correctly I didn't have a problem with ejection or FTF.
The gun seems to be well-made and thought-out... other than the safety. I don't like trigger safeties and that's what the ASI has. I've big fingers and it was a challenge trying to push that little button to get the safety off and on. That's why I gave it a 4 star rating instead of 5. The safety s**ks. It works, but it's not easy to use, at least for me it's not.
Overall? A good, utility 12 ga shotgun with a safety that I don't like. But, it fires when you pull the trigger and it's definitely a good value.
