S&W SW1911Sc E-Series 8+1 45ACP 4.25"

I was shocked when the S&W M1911 E-series Scandium Bobtail went up for sale at just under $1,100. I had checked around, and nobody had it in stock, or would be able to get one for a month or two. Plus, everyone wanted at least $200 more than Bud's price AFTER transfer costs! I saw a message on slickguns that Bud's had them for sale, so I jumped over here and got it! I can't yet comment on how the pistol looks, because it's sitting at my FFL. I am in a kind of strange situation, as I am living overseas in South Korea and won't be back until next summer. My FFL checked it over, and said all looks good. It took bud's five days to ship it, and it arrived at my FFL a few days later.

The only concerns i have about my E-series are based on the extensive online reading I've been doing on this bobtail, but in the end, I just had to get it. I am convinced that S&W will take care of me if there are any issues. For one, some people have had issues with the black scratching easily. Perhaps the scandium frame is a bit softer? One issue most have is that the safety scratches away the paint underneath. I have seen it mentioned that this can be avoided if you remove the safety immediately upon receiving the gun and having work done to smooth the underside. That, or just switch-out the part. The slide release also seems susceptible to scratching easily. The other issue involved a pin coming lose. Hilton Yam on the 10-8 forum has an extensive write-up discussing every minute detail.

This was my first purchase from Bud's, and although the gun is still sitting at my FFL and I won't be in town to pick it up for some time, I was happy with the delivery time.
