Just an FYI I just received this gun today and have yet to fire it, so this review only applies to initial thoughts. First off this is one of the sexiest, best looking guns I have had the privilege to hold and own. S&W definitely raised the bar in the world of 1911's. The wood grips were darker than the ones in the image, but thats understandable being they are wood and will tend to vary in color from grip to grip. The gun feels great in in your hands, wouldn't change a thing about the design. The only reasons i'm rating them 4/5 is 1. I have yet to shoot the gun, and 2. the gun did have a scratch under one of the safeties. I read that the safeties and the slide release would scratch the gun, and after messing with the gun for quite some time, it appears that the slide release is a non issue (at least on mine), and the left side of the gun has a 1/3" long scratch under the left side safety, and the right side appears that it is/will slowly rub off some of the black paint in time. Beyond the known issues, this is a great gun and am very pleased with my purchase.
