Absolutely beautiful. What can I say, Smith outdid themselves with this one!

I received my Smith and Wesson 1911TA in apparently new condition but thought something just didnt seem right. After comparing with my other SW1911TA, i finally realized what wasnt right. There is not a logo on the slide, infact there is no markings at all other than the model and serial #. Nothing that says "Smith & Wesson " anywhere on the firearm. Im disappointed in this. I called S&W directly and verified the serial # with them and its legit. But, they are extremely confused on how or, why there is absolutely no logo on the slide or, how it could have slipped past their Quality Control. They have never heard of this before and i am the first to report it. Not sure how to handle it.

Surely everything I want in a 1911. It fits well in my hand. The recoil is as expected in this pistol. I'd recommend it to any who are interested in stopping power for home defence.

I bought this Government sized 5" Smith and Wesson E-Series 1911 with a tactical rail from Bud's as my first purchase from Bud's Gunshop and I can tell you that I cannot be happier. The weapon came very quickly to my FFL and was in perfect condition upon pick up. I took it home, stripped, and cleaned it. First thing I can say is that the fit is very tight. From the recoil spring to the barrel, everything is seemingly machined and made to fit the weapon exactly. I could do without the guide rod, but that is in itself easily amended and the guide rod itself is functional and that will probably be the worst thing I will say about this weapon. I will say that the slide stop returns back into the slide very easily. It is somehow the easiest slide stop to resink into the slide I've yet to encounter on a 1911 and that is a very good plus. The checkering on the front and backstrap of the weapon are very comfortable to me, although I've heard some people complain that it's too aggressive. If it is, I don't see it as I find it to be just the right level of "grippyness" for me. The safety is decent on the weapon and was positive enough for my tastes. I might switch it out for a Wilson Bulletproof ambi-safety, but as it stands, the safety is functional and serves it's purpose well. The finish, which I've been told is stainless steel coated with black melonite, is also very good and although I haven't subjected it to a lot of abuse, seems to handle very well with no chips or scratches observed, even after firing the weapon and field stripping it multiple times. I've heard good things about S&W's black melonite finish, and as such, from what I've observed, they're all right. I've put about 200 rounds through it in the last few weeks and the weapon has performed flawlessly, living up to it's reputation as being a reliable 1911. I've had no problems or misfires through any of the drills I've run it through and with the use of a variety of magazines ranging from Wilson Combat to Chip McCormick to the supplied 2 Checkmate magazines. It ran through everything, asked for more, and gave me very tight groupings in return. When doing slow shoot drills, I was able to get on the bull at 25 feet with 99% of shots and I suspect that any deviation was due to the user more than the weapon. The trigger pull is very crisp and breaks nicely which makes the weapon a joy to shoot. Overall the weapon was a great purchase and I wish I had bought it long ago and over most other 1911's in my collection. I'm also very happy with the service I got from Bud's and as a first time purchaser from Bud's feel that they've done very well by me and the price that they sold this weapon to me cannot be beat. Combine that with the qualified professional discount which furthered the already great price point and it was a no-brainer.
