Gerber 000758 Gator Machete High Carbon Steel Clip Point/Saw
by sean l Date Added: Wednesday 15 August, 2012
This machete was well worth the low price offered; I picked it up for an upcoming camping trip. It comes packaged new in its original plastic/cardboard wrapping, and it comes SHARP. The handle has a nice rubber grip and the plastic brace feels very strong and sturdy; held together by two hex bolts. Also, the nylon sheath is reasonably well made; it is very stiff and rigid which I prefer to a soft, limp cover. It comes with a belt loop and a velcro wrap to keep the blade secured when not in use. It did come with a few minor "imperfections" on the blade that mostly just appear to be persistent metal shavings from the sharpening process stuck to the blade, but nothing major. This is built to be used, so after a few swings in the bush it won't be anything you care about in the least. The teeth on the back are nice 'n thick and seem ready for work. When I showed the girlfriend, she estimated that it probably cost around $150-$200...that is how quality this thing looks. In my mind, it was a steal...4 stars due to the new blade not being squeaky-clean, but if there was an option for 4.8 stars I would choose that because the price is just too good.

Also, thanks to Buds for shipping it to me in 36 hours...
