Lets get this out of the way first, bud's is awesome. Prices are amazing, and communication and shipping are great. I'll be back.
Now for the gun...this thing is awesome! I was at the range within a day or two of picking this baby up, and I was really impressed. I had been looking for an inexpensive way to get in to the 1911 game, and I definitely think i made a good decision.
After 100 rds of cheap federal ammo from walmart, I can say that this thing is accurate.. much more accurate at 20' than my glock 19. It's pretty true to the point of aim (my glock is a little low left). This thing feels great in the hand and seems to be constructed very well. I had read some stories about FTF's and FTE's through the first 200 rounds, but of my first 100 rds, I had one FTF, but besides that it was clean, fun shooting. The trigger is really nice, clean break, and recoil is well controlled (it is a heavy gun).
Now there was one issue I had. I noticed that the grip safety was not preventing the hammer from releasing when not engaged. I thought this strange, especially because if you physically pushed the beavertail up towards the hammer (as the spring should do, to engage the saftey) the hammer would not release (i.e. the safety was functioning properly) . So after a quick disassembly, i bent the far right spring out a tiny bit, reassembled, and i was good to go. The only other issue is the finish doesnt appear that it will be all that durable, but for a $400 gun, i can live with that.
All in all this is a great gun. I was looking at these and the Rock Islands. Both got good reviews, I ultimately chose this for the extended beavertail (had read the RI's had lots of hammer bite) and the commander size.
This gun is awesome, pick one up and you wont be sorry.
