My review will be in a few parts, to focus on separate details:
1) Bud's Gunshop - excellent place, great customer service, can't beat the prices and value. I give them individually 4/5 stars, and only 4 for one reason: the 6-day hold on ACH (eCheck) transactions. I simply can't fathom a hold placed on what is essentially a direct bank-to-bank transaction. Once the funds "cleared", shipping was fast and efficient.
2) The gun itself - Excellent piece! Fit and finish are superb, nice and tight, machining and tolerances all excellent. Shoots great, feels great, looks great. One minor issue (and this could be more operator error than anything): I had extreme difficulty getting the mag release to come out of the gun, requiring the application of not insignificant force for final removal. Upon inspection, the locking lug was poorly machined/fit (it was nowhere near flush with the mag catch). I had to spend some time filing down the lug to even get the mag release back into the frame, stripping the screw in the process (the operator error part).
3) ATI's customer service was TOP NOTCH. When I called about the issue above, I indicated that I probably botched the job due to my inexperience with 1911s. The rep didn't even concern himself with the why - he just sent me a replacement, no charge. No questions asked, just sent it. I have not received it yet, but expect to any day. When asked about whether the lug should be flush with the mag release, he indicated it should and that the part was probably not machined/fit properly. Apologized, sent the part. Can't beat that!
Overall, I am extremely satisfied. I'll buy from Bud's again, and would buy ATI without reservation.
