Just received my second Kahr CM9. While a still a decent pistol for the price with attractive features, I noticed the following differences from my first CM9 (purchased shortly after they came out) and the CW9 and PM9 I have:
1. Worst of all, the trigger is not as smooth. While still pretty smooth compared to other pistols, I can now feel the trigger spring lightly stacking.
2. Possibly related to observation #1, the trigger (spring?) makes an annoying sound as the trigger is depressed--sounds like a small reproduction of my screen door spring getting stretched.
3. The feed ramp, while apparently functional, has tooling grooves running up it, and the ramp is in no way ground--and definitely not polished--like my first pistol.
4. The finish on the new barrel looks "chinzy". This may not be a reflection of lesser materials but, given my other observations, I have my suspicions.
The fit and finish, otherwise, is just fine. As expected, it is tight as hell, but I'm assuming that after the break-in period, it'll loosen up and shoot fine.
Are my negative observations a fluke? I doubt it but, even if it is, I hold companies responsible for everything they send out the door, and a "there's bound to be a few lemons" defense doesn't cut it for me. Kahr may have its reasons, but I'm inclined to be PO'd at what I guess is yet another case where accountants compromise product quality for short-term profits. Might be the last one I buy...
